Default Synthetic oil switch from regular at 50K

I've been on a free oil change program at the dealer -- every 3K using regular oil since new. Since the warranty expired at 50K this spring, the dealer has posed bogus repair quotes and other scams (like quoting $150 to replace the battery because they saw OLD corrosion evidence -- but didn't notice a new GEL battery in there when refilling the oil - WTH?).

>> we doubt the dealer has used the exact same oil every change.

I want to switch to synthetic at 50K and change it myself now. Anyone think it's a bad idea? wear patterns? horror stories? risk of leaks at seals? I know I should have done it when still under warranty.. .

I drive the LS1 2002 TA pretty hard. This might make it better.

Why blend? Just go full synthetic.

my brother was burning up gears in his race car in two races using convent. oils. He switched to synth and hasn't burnt a set in 2 seasons now.

I appreciate the input. Goodbye Dealer !!!!
