Anyone know what mirror they used? Like what vehicle did it come out of (maybe even a part number)???

I know they tried to use all GM parts (example: power antenna from the Trans-Am)... I just can't find anything on what mirror they used ???

Not sure if this is the exact brand used in the GMMG cars but a company called Gentex makes auto-dimming mirrors with temp and compass. Looks very similar to the ones in the GMMG cars. They sell for about $220 - $230.

i got mine out of a 98 suburan the auto dim feature is nice but one problim no dome lights i am going to disect it see if i can combine the 2 you should get form a salvage yar for like 50.00

you will ned tobuy a sending unit for the temp but it sound like you inly want the compas www.car-part.com you can find one near you theasw ppl ship i worked for them for a year 30 warnty

Gentex makes it. It comes in many different ways. The CMMG cars had the Auto-Dim, temp and compass aswell as the map lights built in. The Tahoe and Yukon models don't have the map lights built in.

GM uses Gentex mirrors . . . . SO? The GMMG mirror is by Gentex. The GENK30.



My Berger came with one, I added one to my other Camaro and to my GTO.

That's awesome, how hard was the install, where did you put the temp sensor, and where did you route the wiring harness?

Not too hard to install. The temp sensor is up front near the grille. Wire was routed through an existing hole under the ECM. Wires to the mirror run up the A piller.

Does anybody have a picture of the temp sensor installed on a tahoe/yukon? I have someone willing to sell me the rear view mirrow out of a tahoe, and will also send me the sesnor if they know where it is installed or what it looks like.

i see it has LED lights..... but do the lights operate when the door is opened and then fade out (theater dimming effect)..... what i know about LEDs they can not fade out as they have smaller current demands versus regular bulbs

The "dimming" effect is kinda messed up with the LED's, it sort of takes 2 to 3 steps and then go out . . .

You have to get the right mirror for the lights to work correctly. There are several different mirrors that Gentex makes and I had to try several mirrors before we found the right mirror to work in my 99 SS. I know a Sales rep that works for Gentex and he finally found the right one to work correctly. The light works like the dome light did in the stock mirror. It comes on when the door is open and goes off slowly after it is closed. Mine also has a orange mood light that comes on when it gets dark outside and throws a orange glow down on the shifter and radio section. It's actually kind of cool and I get questions all the time when out cruising after sunset.
