the gc30 is a good oil....i run 5w30 just because its a good oil for where i live....all our cars have some kinda noise, the valve train is just loud in these cars, but i havent noticed any extra noise because of that oil and i might between oil changes add half a quart....which i dont consider bad....3000 miles= 1/2 quart......i have a newer motor with about 10k on it....some guys who go with 40 then go back to 30 have a tendacy to burn more oil...also depends on how good your pcv system is working....

im at san antonio, where its always hot and humid. on my 2000 z28, i ran regular castrol gtx 10w-30 and i never had any oil consumption or pinging or ticking or anything. so looking at either running 5w-40 or 10w-30 on my first oil change since owning the car..
