Default Built LT1 in 94-96 9C1 Caprice or LS1 Swapped in 98+ S10

Trying to decide which one I am going to do in a couple of months. I think the Caprice would be cheaper overall, but I would love to have a pickup truck for hauling **** around every now and then.

I know the Caprice is over 2 tons, but I'm not sure about the S10. Also, if I did get an S10, it would have to be extended cab. If I do the S10, I'm undecided whether I'd choose 4L60e or T56.

I T56'd my 95 Caprice and never looked back...and I'm LS1ing it now (which also means I have a spare LT1 T56)...but I also have an LQ4 Silverado 2500HD to play with and haul with. Something really fun about a big 4 door sedan that goes fast.

leave caprice alone

buy $500 S10

build a smaller car LS1 swap. or do some mild modifications to the caprice... basicly they are to huge to make fast haha

what do you mean by "$500 s10" ? You've seen 98's for that cheap?

That's a tough one. Why not an LS1 in the Caprice?

I believe the S10s are around 3600~3800lbs if I remember correctly.
Caprice around ~4200.

Then there's the whole weight bias issue. The truck will be a real tire burner (worse than the caprice) so if you're looking for a fun driver, I'd stick with the car. If you need something to occasionally haul parts around, then just get a cheap truck and leave it at that.

my 2 cents

Also, if you swap an LS1 into the Caprice, you'll be saving a couple hundred pounds of weight also by going to a full aluminum motor, so it really will not weight much more than a S10.
