Default Anyone hydraulic roller running 7400+

Just want to see who all out there is doing it. Have a couple up there and one that runs clean to 7700 rpm, makes great power doing so, but some crankcase/windage issues seem to be cropping up

Just curious what kind of crankcase/windage issues you're having?

Granny-you should speak with LS1Joe. He races at least once a week, and last i heard, he was launching at 7800, and shifting at 7600. I believe he is running through the traps at around 7800-7900.......

O yea, did i mention that was on the stock bottom end?! hahaha.

You're pushing oil out of the filler hole in the valve cover? Doesn't sound to me like a windage problem as much as it does a drainback problem in the cylinder heads if I'm understanding you correctly.

Not sure how normal it is, but there's alot of people that do. Personally I'm gonna set my shift light at 6800, figuring that I'll pull the lever at about 7000, I'm sure that it will be in the 7000+ range going thru the traps... we shall see soon enough.

Sounded like a crankcase pressure problem to me

If it were a pressure problem I'm attempting to understand how oil can get pushed up and out when the air in the engine is actually a less dense material than oil and it would get pushed out first by all the laws of physics that I know. I would tend to think it's a drainback issue. I know Jeff uses different pushrods, I'm curious as to how large the oiling holes are in them. Perhaps it might be associated with the size of the oiling hole :dunno: I would also tend to think that if you were having a problem with windage you are foaming up the oil in the crankcase and potentially doing damage to the bottom end. I seriously doubt this is the case because you would see a drop in oil pressure when it occurs ect ect. Just food for thought.

PS thought about adding this, what do your blowby numbers look like if you've done a leakdown test while the engine is warm???

Why? Was it making power up there? With that small of a head and camshaft id think it would be all out of steam 500 rpm or more before that. They sound mean buzzing though dont they!

I expect it to leak a bit maybe have to ask Eric on that one as loose as its ringed. Im temtped to hook up my pressure sensor to the crankcase and monitor that actual pressures inside under load. Im worried about it aerating the oil, maybe make a pull than drain ot and see if it looks like the foam mess
