Default Milling 243's

I have some Livernois heads coming. How far should they be milled to reach 59cc? I'm thinking .030, but then heard many different figures on how much milling removes 1cc.

You'd need to mill .03815 or ~.038.

64.45(stock 243 casting cc)-59=5.45
5.45*.007=.03815

That's a lot of milling. Be careful of PTV clearance especially with aftermarket valves.

Thanks man. Valves are 2" stock. Gonna flycut anyway to be sure, and to have options of swapping whatever cam I want later.

Your calc is based on a LS1 head not a 243.
243 is like a .006 mill
Livernois will be at 64 cc
So 64-59= 5 cc
5x .006= ~.030 mill

(which makes sense, I milled my 5.3 heads .025 and ended up with a 59.83 cc)
