I have a 6point cage ready for install in my 2000 SS. its notched and everything, I just need to find someone to weld everything in. The interior will be fully out so the installer will just need to put the cage in, Ill be painting it after its installed. Is there anyone you guys recommend in PA?

I got mine at TTP in northern NJ and love it. I get complimented on it all the time. The tech inspectors always point out how good the welds are.

Do you go see a dentist when you have a heart problem? No

Then I would't go to an installer/tuner for fabrication work. Fabrication work should be done by a reputable chassis/fabricator shop, someone who has vast experience with fabrication of roll cages and has all the info on the NHRA specs for the current year. Someone who specializes in roll cage, fabrication and chassis work.

Just my opinion.

being that your looking for someone in penn, i would also say s&w.. or even vanishing point, but i dont know how long you'd be waiting for either of them to get around to it...

I think I found my place. Race ready Technologies. Its only 20mins from me. Had a few guys at my work that actually do SCCA races and they do all there work. high recomended plus the specialize in it.

Not a bad choice since SCCA specs are probably more stringent than NHRA 8 sec. specs.

Depending on where your located in pa i could weld it in for ya. I built my own car from the ground up, and as far as quality, just ask anybody who was at the track rental at atco yesterday (monday 6th) and let them tell you how well my welds and work is.

No problem, i only ask that good or bad, if you could post up the experience you have with this job and my work, i would appreciate it. This way other people will get an idea of the work that i do, and the price that you pay will reflect that also. Pics would be cool, ill try and take pics of the job as i do it. One other thing too on the swing out bar deal try to get the kit that is in the pics on this thread earlier. That kit looks like a nice deal, i got the ones from S&W one time and i didnt like them at all. Its your decision thou, ill install whatever you decide on. Make sure the seat that you want to go with is in the car when you bring it, and a 5 point harness is absolutelly going to have to be installed, especially if your going to hit the 10s.

CamaroSS621

def. no problem. Id be more then happy to take some pics before and after and spread the word for you. What swing out kit do you recommend?

DRVETTE

I wouldnt put any in im being honest, especially if its a race car pretty much, i had them in my 91 camaro and i got in and out around them anyway and didnt waste the time using the removal part of it. Im not sure whos removal kit that is in the pics earlier in the thread, but im sure that guy should know.

Heres a pic of mine with no swing out, its almost level with the seat, so its real easy to get in or out, no climbing at all.

35th 427ss do you still retain the factory arm rests on the door. Those bars are just a bit low, im sure still legal, but the bar is technically supposed to pass by your shoulder like, no more than 3" below or something like that. But definitelly proof you can get right in the car.

11-08-2006, 02:30 PM
yes i have the factory arm rests. Car was teched in for the year at NED or LVD and they didnt say anything about it, so im assuming its legal. It almost comes up to my shoulder, its got a pretty steep bend in it, its a wolfe 6pt bolt in, or weld in, one of those, dont remember, lol..

got the pic. that looks pretty good. Mike, I think that will work for me as long as its not to much of a pain to get in/out of the car.

DRVETTE
11-08-2006, 06:42 PM
It wont be, the only way it would be a issue is if you wanted to put a complete cage in the car, then your bars that come down in front thru the dash would not intersect where your door bars meet the floor. Its just basically the door bar is set back a little bit and meets the floor sooner. Well fit you up to that when you are seated in the car.
