Default Oil use after H/C install

Just curious if anyone has had this problem.

Before the H/C install the car used almost one qt of oil every 3,000miles

After the H/C install its now using 1 qt every 200miles.
I know I really need to do a compression check but I think its more in the Heads. Would bad Valve seals or a bad guide make it use that much?

Is it blowing any blue smoke when you are driving? Is it dripping of any oil into the coolant or onto the ground or exhaust pipes?

Valve seals
no sealant on the rocker bolts
PCV letting alot of oil in.
Bad tune causing the rings to flutter.

A few ideas.

Thanks for the posts.

Not leaking oil anywhere and it doesn't appear to be getting in the coolant.
It mostly smokes on start up and if I've been putting around. If I run it hard I don't notice it once its cleaned out.

Slowhawk,
Now that you've said that I never put any sealant on the rocker bolts when putting it back together. I'll be putting H/S rockers on it this weekend should I just use a thread locker or use the black rtv?

I'll also be putting a catch can onit and be looking at the seals.

If its a bad tune and the rings are fluttering how bad is that if I've put about 3,000miles on it since the tune.

I used Loc-tite thread sealer on the thread and some blue Loc-tite thread locker under the head of the bolt. I did this only on the bolts that poke into the intake runner. On the other rocker bolts I used blue Loc-tite on the threads and under the head of the bolts.

The thread sealer is a white paste. I guess it's working, I see no blue smoke and my oil level seems consistent.

PS don't ingest any of the thread sealer. It tastes like **** and it's hard to wash away from your mouth.

If you dont remember putting sealant on the rocker bolts that is probably the main problem.
