Default Can I install oil pump without removing pan?

With the engine in the car, can I remove and install a new oil pump without raising the engine and/or removing pan? If I must, does anyone know the procedure or where I can find it?

I searched for an answer, but just can't seem to find a thread.
If you know of one, that would be helpful, too.

Thanks!

I'm quite sure you'll have to undo the oil pan, but there is no need to raise the motor.

I do it without loosening the pan at all. You just have to be careful with the pickup tube bolt and use a short wrench and magnet.

when i did my pump I couldnt see how it could be done without lowering the pan all the way. I did it without removing the bolts, just enough for the pan to hang low

I found it to be much easier to drop the pan . I would rather take out 6-10 easy bolts than have to fight with 1

So the pan will come out without raising the engine?

ls1howto.com under cam install. you need to loosen all the bolts to the pan and lower it. Don't forget the ones on the bell housing.
