I have an 02 escalade ext that needs a motor. Can a z06 motor be put in it and what would have to be done?

Any help would be greatly appriciated. I need to get my truck up and running again.

I would love to put an ls7 in it but, after all the money I just stuck into it, I will be hardly be able to aford and ls6.

i dont think the zo6 motor would be good for your project ive driven the zo6 and and it makes most of it power above 3k rpm and when im driving my my gmc sierra my rpms never go above 2-2500k so i think the zo6 motor in a escalade will not work to good you need a bottom end motor instead of a top end motor.

suggestion for a motor maybe a supercharger 6.0 or ls1 would get the big escalade up running pretty good.

the LS7 in the tahoe looks tiny in that engine bay.

Not a good motor for tha application. if anything replace the LS2 with the LQ9. But other than that, its still not a great Idea for an aluminum block to go in a Heavy Duty SUV

There is a procharger on it right now. I have had nothing but problems with the truck since it was put on there. First, the guy that tuned it blew the motor up. Rebuilt motor and the crank pulley flew off and ruined the crank, out came the motor again. I am sick of it. The motor has diamond forged pistons, z06 cam and valve springs, cometic head gaskets and arp hardware. That and full exhaust and headers. Still nothing but problems. Just want a stock, untouched motor put in it with a little more power than stock.

have you thought about the ls2 i think this motor makes a little more power down low im no expert by far but ive driven alot of cars and i know the zo6 motor is not going to work for you.

what about a built ls1 with a sts turbo system i know there is this guy on here making stupid hp numbers with his turbo charged awd silverado it think it was around 1100hp.

I would definately look into the LS2 route. I have an LS2 in my 1998 Sierra 1500. With headers, small converter, and a tune, it ridicously fast for what it is. I'm expecting 12s with it at the track.

The LS2 would drop straight in the Escalade, would just need a tune to get it running right. Then add some basic bolt ons if its not enough power.

I bought an ls2 cam for my escalade and it would not work in the ls1 motor. It was missing the cam position thing on it. I think there would be some wiring issues or something???

I do not think I want to go forced induction anymore. Tuning and I do not get along. Also, I had 2 different people tune my truck, one blew the motor and the other made it run like crap. The second guy is very respected also. I have had it!!!!

did your tuner pay to rebuild your motor. if i was you i would just get the ls2 some nice headers and a tune should be faster than it was with the stock 6.0.

There are no wiring issues.

The LS2 cam sensor is moved from the rear of the block, to the front of the block onto the front cover. The knock sensors are also moved from the valley plate, to the sides of the block by the motor mounts, but there are several companies that make the extension harnesses that you need for around $50. Other than that, and a tune, its a drop in swap.

The LS2 has a TON more power over the stock LQ9 in the Escalade. I used to have a Silverado SS with the LQ9, and the LS2 in my truck would simply blow its doors off. The Silverado SS ran a 14.9 at the track. My truck with the LS2 ran a 14.5 completely STALLING off the line.

Go with the LS6. Yes it makes most of its power up high but you will still have plenty of power down low. I completly understand just wanting to have an untoched motor and not have to work on it everyday. Are you going to use the truck intake or the LS6 intake. The truck intake will help your low end.

I would be planning on the truck intake. Otherwise I would have to get electric fans. The intake would not clear the fan on the motor.

you need torque, not hp. put you a ls2 stroker in there.

Well Man I Have A 2006 Trailblazer Ss And It Had The Ls2 In It And Man I Couldnt Be Happier It Has Great Low End And Top End Power....so Many Mustangs And Hemi Truck How Gotten Owned By It Its Pretty Funny...and Its Still Stock....i Would Recommend U Find Yourself A Aluminum Ls2 And A Different Engine Builder/mechanic
