Default My sheetmetal gas tank fills like it has vapor lock

I have a sheetmetal gas tank, and everytime I put gas in it it acts like it's vapor locked. So I have fill, stop, fill, stop. Meanwhile it also spills some out. Anyone know why it does this? I guess I will have to drop it and see if the vent is messed up...

The vent is plugged or has a low spot that has filled with fuel (like a gooseneck in the pipe below the sink...made to plug with water to keep sewer fumes out of the room).

You need to bring the vent hose straight up from the tank port (no loops)...I'd take it to the filler hose at the cap.

My loops are a little under the filler neck and I can fill my tank full blast from a gas station pump. I'm kinda different though

I refer to it as the CAS Burp. Mine will shut the pump down at 10 gallons. Then feed it another 4 gallons more after the Burp.

Its just too much fuel going in and the air in the tank not getting out fast enough. You either need a bigger vent or your vent is too low, the CAS tank I have here used the stock 99+ sender/vent and thats only like 1/4 inch. I dont know how yours is done but I have a 3/8 vent and it seems to work OK.

Depends what they used for a vent, if they used the 98 vent from the steel tank thats the problem, it wont vent unless there is like 8psi in the tank. Have to drop the tank and see what you have there..

I'm guessing that these tanks eliminate the charcole canister and vent solenoid, and the rest of EVAP for that matter?

Ill post them Monday. I am sick right now and cant do anything till Monday anyway. Car is finished and ready to be put back on the road. Are you guys saying you cant fill it all the way up? Or you cant put gas @ the pump without going real slow? FYI I have never filled it up. I put in about 9 gallons @ the pump no problems. Is that the problems you guys are having? So Ive been super busy trying to get my car done for Midnight madness this month.
