Default All LS1/Caprice/Impala SS people in here....

If I don't end up selling my car like I planned, I'm going to keep it and drop an LS1 in it. What I need from you guys is basically a run down of everything I need. Oh and the car is a '96 Impala SS

Who makes engine mounts?
What oil pan will work?
What all should I get when I buy the engine?
What needs to be done to the wiring harness?
And who should I contact about modifying the wiring harness?
How hard is this install with limited mechanical ability and a decent set of tools?

And lastly, any tips you could give me about anything relating to this topic would be awesome. Thanks in advance, Matt

while you guys are looking i am looking for a wrecked impala and/or impala SS wheels

IMO get a LQ4 from the junkard, use stock harness, and put 243 heads on it. im sure there are motor mounts out there, but thats always the easiest and cheapest part of a swap

Google is your friend:

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&l...%22LS1+swap%22

Also, try "Ls1 impala SS" (with the quotes) and you'll probably turn up a plethora of info.

If any of the links in Google don't work, you can click the "Cached" link under the search hit and it will pull up an archive of the page.

One of my good friends is in the GASSIT group here in town that deals a lot with Impala SS from 94-96 and would have a gaggle of info on this.

I have done the LS1 swap, and other impalassforum members have too. They have used some groundbreaking, sweat, and much appreciated efforts in making their impalas extraordinary, and a person like I went with the manufacturer way of doing it. Furthermore, each process has had its fair share of challenges, time, and money spent. I will post pics of my start up, and another week or so, I will post my pics with further details added.
