shift light question

shift light question im going to be hooking up a shift light in a buddy car,question is where do i connect the wire to pick up the signal for the light to work??
do i hook it up to the coil like the old way[negative lead on the coil] or is there another place to hook it up on the fbody the car is a 99 z28 if it helps

Damn I with I would have seen this before. I have been trying for 2 weeks to figure out why might light does not work. Even tried a 2nd light. I just saw this walked outside and switched to 4 cly and now it works.
