Default Is oil pump dying or other problem??

99' Camaro of a friend 150k never driven hard still has stock lid and exhaust. The oil had been changed regularly once a year using amsoil oil and filter since it had 6000 miles on it. He bought the car new. Started it up and drove it out the drive way and oil pressure is fluctating bt 0-20. When it hit dead 0 he heard a knock and shut it down. I came over after work and Rev it up about 40 hot and it will bounce around and then 0 at idle. I figure the oil pump died so we ordered ported ls6 from a sponsor. But what do you think. We'll do it at the shop after work today or tomorrow.

Sounds like the valve in the pump is sticking.
I'll bet changing the pump will fix it.

Good Luck .
