Default Not forced induction but I thought you guys could help.

I noticed recently that when I floor it at high speeds that the RPM's rise normal but the car dosen't move any faster. I don't think that the tires could be braking loose at 80mph in 4th gear. I get a mild vibration at first and then if slowly goes away. I don't think its the clutch because I have a spec 3+ w/2k miles on it and I've only had this issue at higher speeds, is it possible a loose torque arm would cause this issue or do you think its something else. If anyone could help me I would really appreciate it.

Wouldn't it slip in all the gears? It seems to only happen at higher speeds.

necessarily. As the trans is upshifted, the load on the clutch/engine increases.

I just spoke to Spec and they think that possibly some clutch/brake fluid might of got on the flywheel. I guess theres no way of really testing this so I might just drive it for awhile and see if it burns off.

good way to test your clutch is go like 45 mph or so and put it in 6th gear. If it starts putting load on the motor and raises RPM's without really moving, you know the clutch is on its way out.

I'll try it, thanks.

Also, how would brake/clutch fluid get on the flywheel unless you pulled the clutch assembly...

You can also load up the car by going uphill at a lower speed and higher gear than usual... that should make it very clear whether it's your clutch engagement that's at fault. Any change in clutch pedal travel, by the way?

I tested it in 6th and the rpms seem normal so I guess I might just have to take the tranny out to clean the surface

6th from 45 is a bit much.

when i noticed mine slipping i would do the same test but in 4th gear/40mph

6th gear at 45mph just seems like it'd bog the car down too much.

Ya your probably right.

Ive only heard this about NA motors, not sure how different it is with FI as compression is a lot less typically.

It looks like I have a bad clutch and need to send it back to Spec. I heard from other sources that the spec 3+'s are know for going out after a few thousand miles
