Cam idea There is a Trex cam forsale on the boards, and over hte winter i figured it would be a good idea to cam my car for the spring/summer.
Is the Trex a ok cam for a street drivin car?
i have a 1998 camaro with full bolt ons, except the ls6 intake, i have 3.73 gears, and will be installing a ls7 clutch kit soon aswell.
lemme know what you think, i apreciate all the input.

street driven and daily driven are two different things. since it sounds like a winter project, I assume it's not your daily driver. Just be sure you're up for it, as it is not a mild cam by any stretch...also, be sure to get the proper springs, pushrods, etc.
T-ReX v.2 - 242/248 - .608/.612 - 110 lsa 3500-6700 RPM Power Band. Violent mid-range & high RPM power. Requires computer tuning, 4000+ converter on autos, 4.30's or greater depending on transmission. Due to the fast ramp rate of this camshaft, the use of 1.8 rockers is not recommended. Due to the extreme nature of this camshaft, piston to valve clearance must be verified when using modified cylinder heads.

youll be ok, how many miles you pushing? if alot you might want to consider a ls2 double roller chain and that ls6 manifold is a must for that cam...youll need a ported oil pump and ptv clearances like said above, could be an issue...

Not necessarily a ported pump, but just the updated LS6 would do. Shouldnt have PTV issues when used with stock heads that have not been milled. You might be ok with 3.73's if you don't mind having any power below 2k. I would also suggest a full valvetrain upgrade in addition to the LS6 pump. Try to avoid a ported pump.

I know you want to take advantage of that cam being for sale, but that is not a particularly streetable cam. Some may argue, but this is all opinion. I'm fairly forgiving of rough idles, etc.,etc. I have a 234/242 on a 110 in an A4, so I'm not swingin on the 224/224's nuts by any means, but my friend had a fully tuned (by one of the best tuners I know of) T-Rex/4400 stall car and I didn't like how shaky it was even after the tune and all. It's all personal opinion.
