Default LS1 in '66 Nova?

I've done qutie a few searches and see that it's been done but haven't seen any pictures with an end result. Basically I going to go through with this but want to get opinons on tackling the project. I understand that it's rough using the stock front end but it's cake with an aftermarket one... which route is recommended. Are LT's even an option as I've there is little to no room for these. Matching a T56 seems to be nearly impossible but can it be done with some body fab./cutting? Basically is there any write-ups that would help me get starting and choosing a path that will help me accomplish my goal? Thanks!

Here's some info. Don't think there's any T-56 stuff in this thread though.

Check out this website, might be of some help:

TKO Transmissions

They mostly focus on 5 speed conversions (hence the name), but they have some specs and retrofit info for T56's as well.

Hope that helps.

I made my own, but Street & Performance makes them.

Block huggers will fit also. Trans tunnel will need cutting for both the housing and shifter. In any event it will be not quite as hard with an after market front end( much better riding also) compared to the tight cramped stock quarters. Computer positioning, clutch, new drive shaft, trans mount, fuel tank/lines, radiator / steam lines, oil pan(F body unit fits with Heidts) are most of the major concerns I've faced.

Headers are vexxing. I haven't tried too many yet but there is not a ton of room on the driver's side because of the steering joints and misc.

Headers have been made but they are prolly pricey.

ou know I never received an answer from him on my ? there. I just visited the new site connection and did not see anything listed now for the Novas. Other than block huggers or fabricating your own, I'm still curious about the Hooker's for the 67-69 Camaro application....

You may want to call Thunder Racing.

You may want to give Sanderson Headers a call. http://www.sandersonheaders.com/

The may not have headers specifically for your application, but they have several LS1 models to chose from. They are anot all on their web page, you need to get the catalog. They are also very good to work with, I bought my headers from them in plain steel knowing we would have to modify them. They provided me with a box of scrap bends to work with for $20 and then after we had the mods done I sent them back and they Ceramic coated them for $115. And fast too, they had them back to me in less than a week.

I will warn you that sometimes the lady(s) that answer the phone are a little abrupt, but once you get to talking with the techs they are great to work with.

Pat
