i guess if you were to keep the original cats in the stock location, and run dual from there i guess that would be legal

put the cats in the stock locations with the rear o2's in the same location and youll pass.

if your going by the book any altercations to the exhaust is illegal but as long as your running cats (in the stock locations) most shops will pass you

I had them on my IROC with and without cats. Check out Gene's mufflers off the 710 and Firestone, I believe. He built me up a set back then all mandrel bent.

You are wrong. Modification to the exhaust system in caifornia are legal provoded it is not too loud and does not alter the location of cats.

How much you think it will run me to have the true duals run all the way out the back?

oh my bad... didn't know i needed to get in specifics with you....
im sure anyone who is altering their exhaust to TRUE DUALS is going to increase the exhaust volume/noise compared to stock... therefore it is illegal... and yes i'm sure if someone is living in cali they would know that cats are required and need to stay in the stock locations

its alright, as long as i keep the cats i think i should be cool, cops are more strict on the ricers, so i should be cool, haha but i see it may cost a pretty penny, maybe just getting cat backs with an electric cut out will be better, even though maybe more expensive its probably a little bit more safe
Actually it is not true.. cars are labeled as single exhaust or dual exhaust when you go to smog them. You can not run a single exhaust car as a dual or a dual exhaust car as a single no matter if you move the stock cats or not.
I spent a lot of time looking over CARB rules and talking to refs when I ref'd my LS1/RX7 and I had to keep a single exhaust to be carb legal because the camaro is labeled as a single exhaust car.
