I am considering building an LS2 for a 99 F-Body.
What do you think about these specs?
New LS2 block - $900
Honed w/ a torque plate - $100
New Rods (I-beam style)-Forged - $425
8.5:1 dome pistons & rings -Forged - $565
.525 x .525 cam & lifters - $250
Stock LS1 crank - have
Stock LS1 heads & intake - have
35# injectors - have
Vortech Supercharger 12-14 PSI - have

I was told to run Methanol injection.
Is it worth the added cost?

Is this a good setup for street and autocross?

sell your motor and transmission complete

built LQ4/9 motor with forged pistons and L92 heads with a single plane or sheet metal intake. stock crank and stock connecting rods.

Well I'm not ready to do that just yet.
I want to use the parts that I already have.
So does anyone else have an opinion on the question at hand?
Thx
Al

The stock heads and intake is going to be very restrictive with the 4" bore and the cam, you can put 2.02" & 1.575" valve in the stock seats and do some porting and clean up the bowls a little and atleast try to find you a used LS6 intake and a set of headers.

What Kind of HP at the crank do you think that it will produce with the stock heads and intake?

I would try for around 9-9.5:1. Superchargers like more static compression than turbos. Pick up some L-92 heads and intake, throw on some valve springs and go to town.

Nate,
I was told to not go over 9:1 and run as much boost as I want.
I plan to run approx 13 PSi for now.

IS there any way to prove this without using a dyno?
do you know of a chart or ref that I can look up that spects and see approx what I'll get from this?

i hvae no idea but im going to say no but stock 5.7 head and 6.0 heads have basicly "no balls" if you know what i mean, so basicly get them ported and some big valves. As well as a good healthy cam, you make alot of your power in the heads and valve train.... goodluck

Does anyone know what valves are in the stock heads of an 2004 silverado SS? I think they are 918 heads.

I seen a member here , LS6son running a 408 with stock 241's 244/248 .612''/.615'' 114lsa and an ls6 intake making 469 rwhp and 467 rwtq through a 9'' . Thought that was pretty good myself.

there is a dyno in my thread you might be interested in looking at

also blower + auto cross, there is no point to it, you will never hit redline in an auto-x where peak power is made. if you do your asking for tail whip lash action with 13 psi. all motor and gears for auto-x. blower is a waste IMO. i ran in SCCA for 2 years, 1 full season with a blown S2000 which worked out great, gave that car the extra power it needed. in a f-body, it needs suspension in order to run auto-x properly, not gobs of power.

take the LS2 to a 4.030 bore + 4.1" crank and make a 418 ci motor out of it and you will be in the 550/500 territory on motor alone with all the right parts. power under the curve will kill a blown 346, i think even with pushing 12-14psi

sell your old motor, sell the blower to pay for a LS2 418ci.

I still would like to know what size valves are in these heads?
Thanks

I dont think you can bore a sleeved { aluminum LS2 }engine only Iron . You will have to resleeve to add cubes .

If your not going to stroke the LS2 you wanna build its not worth it , your more at risk of detonation with the larger bore.

Them injectors will be 2 small at a 14psi power level

Methanol is good but , you should run an FMIC
