Default Want mild street/strip setup

Ok, since my 93' Z is put away for winter and the motor needs overhauled due to burning oil(cause still unknown), I am gauging ideas as to what to do. Looking for a mild street/strip setup. Will be working on this very slowly over the fall/winter/spring. I'm thinking about reconditioning the block back to stock specs and than having some mild port work done with a cam. I'm an A4 and leaning towards a 2400 stall. Will be putting in 3.73's, so that is covered. Might do SFC's, but that all really depends on the final power output. Tranny is already in plan for a rebuild as its about done for. Any suggestions?

Well- i have an proven combo. Although my car is an M6 car i think that you will probably see close to the same numbers with the gears and the stall. some people say though that they hate the 24/2600rpm stalls and would have just as well spent thier $ on a 3000 stall. up to you though.

Here is my package- Ported 97 aluminum heads, 1.6 alum. roller's, Comp Cams Xtreme Energies hydraulic roller cam size - .230/.236 @.050 .555/.550 overall @ 112* LSA. stock fuel system, stock injectors, retuned computer, aluminum intake elbow, Hooker Supercomp LT's, 3" full exhaust w/ hooker Aerochamber muffler, electric waterpump, 97 rear end w/ 3.42's.

put down 351rwhp 398#ft tq on a dynojet dyno.
still manages about 24-27mpg on interstate depending on how much i've got my foot into it.

99% of the time an LT1 burning oil does so because of an intake manifold gasket leak. I think your rebuild plans are premature, these things do not wear like old carbed crap did. Opening up a 150K mile LT1 one should expect to find almost no bore wear.

Well, it just has me concerned. All the problems I have had with this car leads me to believe that it wasn't taken care of by the first owner. IT smokes on startup and when you rev it while in park or neutral. I'll give the intake manifold and check and replace gaskets and what not to see if that will cure my problems. I'm still looking to make 350-400 with a stock bottom end. I'll let you know how it goes.

I'd try those intake manifold gaskets man. ive seen these LT1 cars run 200k+ miles before and taking quite a beating while doing so. while you have the intake off go ahead and do your heads and cam. also have the computer re-programmed. then when you get it all together you'll be all set to fly.

Hey ITS ME lol. But for real you might as well do like your wanting. A refreshed bottom end and mild port with cam and valvetrain upgrade will give you what you want. There is a guy on MFBA with the SN of SCRMNWS6 that added and LE2 combo to his stock bottom end and pulled off a 400rwhp on a set of TT2s that are 17x11. Just go with your original plans. You and I both know that what they are saying about no problems as far as bore or anything even on my 173K motor that we just pulled apart.
