Default AFR heads use stock pushrod length?

I am going to install AFR 225 #1630 heads on a stock LS6 shortblock and was wondering if the stock length pushrods will work(I have purchased some stock lengh performance pushrods). The heads have only milled .003 for cleanup. Also in calculating the compression ratio I came up with about 9.6 with the 72cc heads and a .050 head gasket. Does this sound close? Ken

I am sure stock length pushrods will work but they may be a little off and you will get that sewing machine sound everyone loves. Get a push rod length checker from Thunder or another sponser for $20 and check them out. Very easy to do, takes 20 minutes. Are you going to run FI because that is a lot of head on a 346 without being milled quite a bit.

I have some 205's that would work great on your 346 and your 225's would work great on my 408. Just thinking out loud.

So are you wanting To trade short blocks? Just kidding. Thanks for the advice. I have a procharger p1sc-1 and and a 3.85 8 rib pulley, fast 90 intake, Nick Williams 90mm, Comp cam 228/581, slp long tube headers and a tune from Ed Wright at fast chips. Ken

PM Tony Mamo, from what I can understand AFR require slightly taller p-rods compared to stock casting. I would say 7.450
