Default LS1 vs. LS6 confusion?

I've done my forum searches and remain a little confused. I have a pullout from a 2001 Pontiac WS6 TA (+ T56). Is it a LS1 or LS6? From my research, it seems like it is an LS1 with some LS6 components (intake?) but I can't figure out which is which.

I'm sure there must be some difference b/c the Z06 seems to put down a bit more power...

Thanks in advance for your expertise!

Steve

If it is the motor that came in the car it is an LS1 w/ an LS6 intake. It does not come with an LS6 cam or LS6 heads, which is what makes the Z06's power.

yes there is a small chance that you have an ls6 block but that really doesnt matter.

Great info, thanks for the quick responses! I think it was the possibility of having a LS6 block that was confusing but now I understand that isn't a factor.

Thanks!

Well it is a possibility, but it doesn't really matter

It's an LS1 at heart.
