opti install ? 94 opti to a 95 block? change cam gear?

opti install ? 94 opti to a 95 block? change cam gear? ok i am putting a new motor in my 94 lt1 and the opti is driven by a splined shaft on the back of the opti that goes into the center of the cam gear. that is how the 94 are right? ok and the new motor i have to put in it, is out of a 95 which the opti is driven by a dowl pin in the cam gear, correct? now could i just swap the cam gear off my old motor with the cam gear on the 95 motor to allow my 94 opti to fit it?

'95 is the Vented OPTI, requiring the Vacumn Lines. '94 is still Dowel-driven, but it's a different length dowell. It is not driven by the Gear, but the Cam itself. You would have to swap the Cam to use yours, or make the Pin longer/shorter to use a '95.

If you want to use your 94 opti you will have to use your 94 timing cover and at least the 94 cam gear. that way it will have the splined hole for the opti drive shaft. Eveything else should be the same. But it would be a good time to upgrade to a vented opti and use all of the 95 stuff. But if moneys tight and your stuff is good, go for it...
