Default Twin Turbo dyno results....

I drove my 01 LS1 SS to Speed today to strap it down for some pulls. It was a nice drive as the car is super responsive and smooth as stock.

This is with our new turbo system using GT35R, .63 a/r turbos that retains all stock accessories in their original location.

This was on the stock shortblock with truck heads, mls gaskets, arp studs, comp 216/216 114lsa cam, 918 springs.

Driveline is 6-speed trans, LS7 clutch, stock rearend with 3.73's.

Once it came up on boost the tach on our dyno would freak out, so I have no torque numbers.

It made 575rwhp at 9lbs of boost, 93 octane, hitting 9psi by 3500 and carrying it tabletop flat all the way to 6,800 where it was still making 545rwhp. IAT's started at 70 degrees at the beginning of the pull and ended up at 74 degrees at 6,800.

Soooo, I could (and should) have left well enough alone, but we decide it would be a good idea to dump some 100 octane in it and turn up the boost.

I had a manual boost control valve that I quickly installed, and took my best guess at the control ****.

I bring the car up through the gears, floor it at 2,500 rpm and instantly the car is going sideways on the dyno spinning the tires at which point I quickly lift off the gas.

Uh oh, dyno screen shows 791rwhp and I lifted early. Datalog shows 25 lbs of boost by around 5,000rpm. Not exactly what I had planned.

The front seal popped out from excessive crankcase pressure, and I think it broke a ringland or eight. I popped the front seal back in, cleaned up all the oil and proceeded to drive 30 miles home Uncle Buck style. This poor thing was smoking so bad cars behind me were pulling off the road, but she made it home.

So, I guess it's time to build a motor. I was impressed that the LS7 clutch held that power (even if it was just a dyno pull), and I think the system will have some good potential on a built engine.

Oh well, at least my LT1 still runs

BTW, here are pics of the system in case anyone hasn't seen them. I'll get some installed pics before I pull the motor out as well.

I have Uncle Buck on VHS.

Reminds me of those days like six years ago when you would break the rear in the SS and drive it home *clank clank clank.*

Man that sucks, but look at the potential already shown with a new engine that can handle it! Gotta stay positive!

Sorry to hear about the damage. Wow, 25 psi . Well, build a forged bottom end and see if the dinky cam and truck heads (stock??) can make 800 hp/800 tq with 20-25psi.
Hella big potential here.
Good luck!!

Jim that's nuts! The car turned out great!! I know you wanted to blow it up so you could build a good short for it! You won't be happy until it's making a 1000 rwhp with the air running on the dyno. lol.

Are you coming tomorrow?

Jim and Dan get the props here. They built a killer setup and will show some huge numbers when back together.
