Default T-top to hardtop conversion.

In magazines and here, I've seen the work Wheel to Wheel did on Roofer Dave's car, getting rid of the t-tops and doing a NICE job on capping it with a hardtop.

Anyone know of a shop in Texas that can do this and do it to a high standard like W2W?

You can buy the top from GM. I have a car that will be getting one done in Houston. I will let you know how it comes out.

Thanks Brian. Definitely want to hear/see how it turns out. I would like to know that if I ever want to turn a car into a hardtop, I won't have to take it all the way up to Michigan.

OK, smartass reply out of the way.
I've seen some folks try to flame each other over T-top vs. hardtop and I don't want this to be one of those threads. Yes, I know that there are some single digit ET cars that have T-tops (Fereday's for one), but to me a true drag racing car should be a hardtop. Totally personal preference, but I feel GM made too many of the 4th gens with T-tops. I've seen numerous cars for sale that would have really caught my eye... except they have fuggin' T-tops.

If an otherwise "perfect" car were to come to my attention, I'd like to know if I could make it into a hardtop that looks factory (or better) and do that without having to send the car all the way up to W2W.

I think converting hard-top to t-top or the opposite, is a waste of time and money. If you have a t-top and want a hard top, then sell your car and buy one, just my .02. With a decent set of subframes i think t-top cars are strong enough that you dont need to convert them to hard-top for strength reasons.

you mean, you would rather have an operational motor, vs leaky t-tops

lane's hi tech can do it... it might take some convincing to talk him into it though. his red/flamed 3rd gen has been a hardtop, then a t-top, and now a convertable. also, the dealer could do it, as replacing the WHOLE top is how they say to fix the bubbling common on the hard top cars.

Logical and that's exactly the advice I would give someone who is just searching for "an" F-body. I'm talking about finding a specific car, ie. already built up the way I'd build it, or perhaps a particular color or a particular set of options/equipment, and it's exactly what I'm looking for except that it has t-tops.

Otherwise, your advice is pretty obvious.

Also true. No approaching it from a strength perspective. As I pointed out, there are numerous single digit ET cars with T-tops. I just don't think that T-tops belong on a race car. Again, just personal preference.

Quit trying to copy me Todd with the hardtop car! Good luck man, be cool to see some one do it, seems easier the other way around.

No offense to fat people here, but if I was as fat as that guy in the picture I would not be buying a Corvette. I would be looking for something more roomy like a Cadillac Escalade or something. I could still show off how much money I had and also be comfortable.

Corvettes are not exactly designed for fat people

Dude, that's Vinny! You better retract that statement. You better delete the post, change your name, move out of state, and join the witness protection program. You remember Jimmy Hoffa right? They still haven't found him.
