Default how to tell what ZO6 LS6 cam it is 2001 2002? or what???

so i buy a used LS6 cam, havent installed it yet at all it looks very VERY nice and is in awesome shape for being used. Looks kinda new actually but i wanted to know how i can tell if its an LS6 cam(and if its a 2001 LS6 or 2002 LS6, and yes there IS a difference with lift and LSA if i remember correctly!) It still has all serial #'s all that crap engraved on it so im guessing someone can tell me if they know anything about the numbers. I have a STOCK LS1 cam out of my 1999 LS1 laying around and tried measuring the lobes with a millimeter measuring thing and they came out very similar if anything the "LS6 cam" lobes measured to be smaller than my stock LS1 lol.... WTF?? someone please shed some light i dont feel like going to the dealer right now its kinda far THANKS!!!!!!

Post up the numbers, that is one way we can help. Or search on the internet for those numbers.

If I remember correctly it will have the last 4 digits of the part number written on the end of the cam.

how are you measuring? the smaller base circle diameter should be a start, otherwise 2001 cam had .525 lift, 2002+ had .550 lift.

i know the lift and everything of the two LS6 cams (01 and 02+) but i need someone with knowledge of the serial #'s engraved on the actual cam. Because from physically measuring some spots on the cam and comparing it to the stock LS1, i see very minor almost no difference, but maybe my measurements aren't correct or maybe the physical diff between the two cams are just that minimal
---OH and im measuring the lobes on each cam, measuring the tallness of each lobe off the shaft, you know the peak on each section and im doing the same with the stocker.. hope somebody can figure this out for me. If not its off to the dam dealership and pray some idiot in the parts/tech department can find anything to do with those lil serial numbers on the cam

just measure the height of a cam lobe and multiply by 1.7, there's a big enough difference between the two cams to not confuse them

The proper way to find the lift of a cam using calipers is: Measure the Largest point of the Lobe (Lobe Height), Subtract the Smallest point of the Lobe (Base Circle), Multiply that value (Cam Lift) by the Rocker Ratio (LS1 = 1.7). This gives you Valve Lift.

Example: 1.0568" (Lobe Height) - .7480" (Base Cricle) = .3088" (Cam Lift) X 1.7 (ratio) = .525" (Valve Lift)
