I went to the drags this weekend and it was a catastrophe. The clutch was gone on my very first run. I did a pretty good burn out then launched at about 2400 sliped the clutch and hamered it once it engaged, well it wouldn't leave 1st gear. I thought I shifted second but when I was back on the gas it went straight to rev limiter so I shifted 3rd and the same thing. So I put it in neutral and pumped the clutch a few times and got it into 4th and cruised through the traps at 75mph. I could smell the clutch like a mofo so I let it cool for a good hour. The next run I did not burn out and just rolled off the line with a 3 sec 60' and then punched it and shifted 2nd hard and it went staright to red line again and bounced the rev limiter a few times before I got off the gas. Then I got back in the gase and the car took off about mid track and I pulled a 111mph so that was pretty much it for the day I hung it up. So now the search is on for a good mid 400rwhp clutch that can handle hard driving and launches.......... any suggestions?

I am opting for a Spec 3+ with updated hydraulics. I do like to go to the track often so this is my choice. Alot depends on the future mods you have planned. If you are going to stay around stock to 400RWHP and visit the track once or twice a year I would suggest the new LS7 clutch.

So what are the long term plans for the Vette? This will help define the clutch you should run.

The ram powergrip or hd are good choices. I personally have a ram street twin. This clutch outbperforms the spec 3 I had in all categories.

I plan to stay below 500rwhp I am at 413 now and the only other thing I may ever do is heads but there is a long list of other things to do before hand so that is likely not going to happen. I thought about the LS7 but have heard many bad things from guys trying to launch it so thats out. I was also thinking about the Spec III+ but want to search all options first. Its a daily driver so first and foremost is the drivability abd then its launching capabilities. I know nothing about the Ram clutches but I will look into them.

My RAM HD is holding my 500 rwhp. Its heavy. If you are an occasional track guy I might look into something else. It really liked to shutter at first but wore in well. My buddy took it out a few weeks after he put it in... too much for him and his street car.
