Custom Cam and Harris County Emissions
Does anybody know if a cam like the TR224/224 at 112 LSA will pass Harris County's emissions test?
Thunder Racing and everything I've read explain that the narrower separation angle will make it harder to pass emissions but will give you a bit more power under the band. Would the 112 be worth it or would the 114 be better?
I'm not to the point where I'll be swapping the cam anytime soon, just checking with the locals to see if there's any free advice floating around.

Good luck .But remember $100.00 will get you a sticker if you look hard enough..it really doesnt mater what it sounds like just so there is no check engine lights on or sensors deleted...like bank 1 sensor 1 or bank 2 sensor 2.. .

so, they don't get a reading from the forward o2 sensors when they do the plug-in test?
if that's the case, all you need is a proper tune to make sure you're not throwing codes and something that looks like cats on your y-pipe to pass the visual...

Hehehe... This forum rocks.
It'll be a long while before I get there. I'm still slowly sorting the suspension as of now. Headers and a good porting of the TB would need to precede the cam, of course.

Um, they don't even put the car on a sniffer. They plug into the OBD-II port under the dash.
And no, your computer will not tell the emissions tester "Psst, don't pass this guy, he has an aftermarket cam!!!!11!"
If you don't have any codes you pass the "emissions" part. The visual is a different story as far as cats go, but most places don't even check anymore.
