Default Cam help

I plan on getting a 98-02 camaro or t/a (auto) this summer...I am gonna start with the SLP Stage 1 PerformancePac(SLP loudmouth exhaust, CAI, Lid,K&N filter, smooth bellows) followed by an underdrive pulley, 160 thermostat, plugs/wires, richmond 3.73 gears and possibly the new TCI 3200 or 3700 stall converter...What is a good size or brand cam and brand of springs that will make decent horsepower without needing a new intake manifold, tb, or heads? I really like that lopey idle, but I just want a nice street performer, not a ***** out track demon...You know, just something to laugh at my buddies who think their turbo A4's can beat me...I am in college now, so I don't want to go for the big stuff until I graduate and can afford my own stroker motor...then my LS1 will become a track demon...

by turbo A4`s do you mean the audi A4 or an Ls1 A4 f-body with a turbo! because if it`s the second one forget it with a not too much duration cam with stock long block without nitrous

texas speed cam, futural motorsports, mti just do research. what ur horse power goal and you might wanna stay away from slp load mouth gets raspy under load. and will get on your nerves, save ur money dont get the thermostate really wont be pushing the horse power for any use. hooker makes a nice sounding exhaust at idle and sounds real good at WOT.

springs buy dual springs(manley are good) buy that with ur cam to get a package price and save a little money, get titanium retainers, harden pushrods, seals will include on the package price. If ur gonna get a stall conveter make sure u get a tranny cooler! or ur tranny will over heat, costing more money. lid is good, bellow is a waste of money go to home depot and get a 3" fernco tube for 5 bucks boil it for like 10 minutes to soften it up and their u go. saved 30 bucks. suggest u buy long tube headers (hooker or pacesetters are descent for the money u spend) and a new y pipe then go out later and get a gear later down the road.

hope this helps u out.

are u looking for a cat back or dumped exhaust, they have down testing and hooker was the best exhaust as for performance, but their is better sounding exhaust out their, texas is good for their true dual exhaust you dont get a y-pipe, it would sound sick with a cam on 112lsa my opionon is get that if you get a camaro but not a transam they dont look right on them.

because you're left with the open areas where exhaust is supposed to be on t/a's? is that what you mean by not looking good?

thought so, I know what you mean...If I ever go true dual, it'd be costly to have it run out the back, but at least it won't look like ****...
