Default Cam recomendation for forged 422 and AFR 225's?

I have a fully forged 422 with AFR 225's and a Fast 90 combo. The car is a six speed with a 12 bolt, 410 gears and Exedy twin disc clutch. I currently have the GX5-3 LG cam in the car with LG's tune. The car runs like crap, the tune LG put into the car is horrible. Its clear as day they just down loaded a tune from another car with a simmilar combo. Im going to have to have the car re tuned and was thinking of going to a bigger cam before hand.

What cam would you use?

Thanks for the suggestions guys!

I'd do something in the 248/254 range on a 111+1 or +2, not sure what lobes though.. maybe LSK's.

Its a weekend pleasure car only and I have to get it retuned, its a pain in the *** to drive as is. Im looking to maximize the potential of the engine without compromising too mutch drivability. Everyone is telling me the cam is small for the combo and a larger grind may be a better choice? I have owned several first gens with radical cams but im still new to the different combinations and cam sellection on the LSX. My tuner says 560+ to the rear wheels would be easily within reach with a new cam and a good tune.

i havent seen too many #'s on a 422, but i see 427's making 550, so i dont know if you'll hit 560 plus, i think you should get something along the lines of the TSP texas giant, or MTI's S1, CRAGER has the S1 in his 427 and made 545hp 520tq, but combos are different

A freind of mine has a 427 with the AFR 225's, Fast 90 combo ect. built by the same shop I do busness with. It made 563 Rwhp through a 4L60 trans. Im only five cubes behind him and running a six speed, I would think it would be easily possible with a good tune. Im not set on making this power just interested in oppinions on a good cam for the combo.

You should PM predatorZ he has excellent understanding of cam dynamcs and selection from what I have read. Also I'm sure Comp cams could help or one of the specialty sponsors.

i know with afr 225's .600 max with stock rotating assembly. so first u got to figure out how much lift u can go with, depending on the forged internals u went with, like if u have fly cut pistons or not. duration, my self i would go with anything smaller than 255 on both intake and exhaust, but this depends on if its a street car that gets driven alot tho. k-tech can spec out a cam for u. thats who id talk to

If your friends car is making that much, I'd use the cam he has. Obviouslly it's working.

I have 2 cams for sale that I used in my 427 for a very short time.

MTI S1 - .244/.244 .612/.612 on a 112lsa. This cam worked well with my combo and was friendly on the street. I went a best of 10.36 at 129 at 3500 pounds with this set up with ported 5.3 heads.

Comp cam - .259/.267 .595/.595 on a 115 lsa. Tried changing to this cam to pick up when I was using n2o. Made similiar numbers with this cam also.

I'll take $200 shipped for either cam. They both have very little time and are in perfect shape. Please PM me if you are interested.

Personally I don't think bigger will be the answer for better driveability, just my .02 cents. Both the cams I listed worked very well on the street and the track. Your heads are much better than what I was using and I would think you would make more power than I did.

Did you mean you don't believe it? Sorry, its hard to tell, but if not, I can vouch for the 427 car, and so can quite a few others on the board. The cam in that car is HUGE 26X something, its unreal. The shop mentioned is not a LS1tech sponser hence the discretion. Sorry for whoring up your thread Jeremiah!
