Talking Need some help

I have a few question:

>What mods can I have done under a warranty? My first group of mods will be.
-F.A.S.T. LSX 90mm Intake & P.T.M. 90mm Combo
-True duals
-CAI
-LID
-performance chip
You have to help me out with the chassis and drivetrain.

>I have seen two different curb weight for the 93-03 f-body. One is in the 3600LBS ranges and the other is 3300LBS range. Which one is it?

>Do these engines make 325fwhp or 325rwhp? "fw=flywheel"

>If the HP is rated at the flywheel does that mean that I am making close to 260rwhp with a possible 20% drivetrain loss from the auto?

>How much HP can the 4L60E handle?*

>What is the stress level of rear axle? When will it be time to change to a 12bolt?

>At what power level will it be time to upgrade/improve the ws6 performance?

>18" rims vs 17"rims..... what is the better choice?

>Is it a good idea to put 305-30-18R drag radials on the rear of a daily driver? Will the improve traction destroy the rear end?

>Will 10.5" rims balance out with hips of my Firebird/ will a rim with that with the width be flush with rear 1/4 panel? The stock 17x9 wheels are nice but they sink into the wheel welds which sometimes present a non-aggressive appearance from certain angles. I know it wheel be hard to find an 18x11+ rim, that is the rim width that friends suggest the will give me the look I'm after.

>Do any one have a wheel website that has other wide rims to offer other than the AR, cragarSS, CCW and zo6 wheels? I'm in search of a 18x10.5 wheel with 275-35-18front and 305-30-18rear tires. Since I have a white car the wheels of my choice will be blackpolish face with chrome or aluminum polish lip. The wheels that I have seen that meet that qualification are the z06 replica wheels from www.customwheelsmarket.com with 58mm offset. The rims cost $600 the tires cost $1000 . I mean, the initial buy is ok but tire replacements and not knowing what other issues can occur with these wheels & tires is why I haven't jump. Also, everybody has them and I'm not into expose rim lugs, I think those are for luxury cars.

Well that is all I have for right now, your comments/replies will be appreciated.

You can do any mods to a car under warranty as long as the dealer cant prove that the mod caused the broken part they are supposed to cover it. Some dealerships will tell you that they wont warranty it if you change the spark plugs, others will warranty anything. Be prepaired to fight for your warranty from a dealer.

The engines are underrated as to not interfere with the corvette sales they make about 345 hp at the flywheel 280~300 at the rear wheels.

The 4l60E will handle the up to around 500 hp

The rearend can go at any time. Some people have over 500 hp on the stock rear end. Anywhere over 400 hp if you are gonna use sticky tires/drag radials than change the rear.

Drag radials will destroy the rear-end. Maybe not today or tomorrow but down the road.

As far as the wheel thing look around and see what you can find.

I dont understand the ws6 question.

Thanks for the info "like the view"

"I dont understand the ws6 question." I was asking about when the suspension needs to be upgraded to handle power gains.

Strut towers
brakes
sway bars
controll arms
etc.....

Heres my 2 cents.
Dont do the fast....yet, you already have plenty of air coming into the engine for your mods, get a cam instead

And dont do the drag radials, You dont need them for your performance level and your jsut gonna tear stuff up. a good set of street tires is all you need unless this is jsut gonna be a track car, in which case go for it

The weight depends on the factory options, its probably closer to between 3400 and 3600.

I wouldnt worry about going to a 12 at all until your at least around 450'ish hp, the auto doesnt put as much stress on the rear as an manual tranny does. On that note, it could go earlier than that

Rim size is just a matter of preference, 17s will give you a better ride but 18s i think look better.

Good luck, and welcome to the board

Thanks Eric for your input.
So how are the 4.10s treating you? My car is only getting about 18mpg, which allow me to get 260-280miles off a full tank of gas. I will try to lighting my foot this weak.

Also how are these

I think they only offer them in a 9in. wide rim. I want the wheels that will balance out with the rear hips.

the black rims with chrome lip are sick.....take a look an see....click it

as far as your warranty issue....most warranties, want you to keep your emissions, stock internals, and stock drive train.......unless otherwise noted...bolt ons are pretty much all a go

I love the 4.10s. I have a +1tire so i do like 1600 rpms on the highway in 6th gear.
But you have an auto, so the most you would wanna go is 3.73's, at least thats what the consensus on here seems to be

(2) 17x9.5 & (2) 18x10.5....$469
All 17x9.5" Wheels ............$419 (I got this setup)

I got my GS-D3 tires from Sullivan Tire (a New England chain).

That is not a bad deal. Is there a weight difference in the regular z06 replicas verses the motorsport z06 wheels.

well i would get a new cam first because i bought the biggest cam that lunati makes and that added about 40 horses, just get a 80 dollar B and M shift kit for the 4L60E.. that workes really nice, and get a deep sump pan for the tranny (to keep her from burning up), B and M makes that also.. and put an aftermarket transcooler too, so it runs colder, In my 2000 SS the trans fluid is burn to nothing at 60K, true duel exhaust is going to be hard, i tryed it on mine and i would have to cut it off to service the tranny so i just got an off road y-pipe with my mac headers and with 3 inch exhaust and it is much easer.. hold off on the Fast, an 90 throttle body is over kill with stock lifters and valve springs, the stock throttle body is just fine..

1st off what year is your car? If it's an 01-02 then keep your stock intake for now. As far as warranty concerns are, no matter what it is that you have done to your car a dealership mech. will try not to warranty if they can get away w/ it. W/ that said I would just do some basic bolt ons for now, such as cat-back, lid, TB or have yours ported, and do all the free mods! That way if something does go wrong it's not that big of a deal and will probably go unnoticed at the dealer. And if they do have a complaint then swap it back quick and take it to another dealer.

Also are cars don't have Perf. Chips, they are programmable!
