Friend got a ticket for negligent driving of the second degree. What was your for?

He lit up his tires with his car but then the cop claims he paced him going 42 mph (between three cars? ) and saw him swerving all over.

Ticket was $530. I read on the gov site it is only suppose to be limited to $250 though. or so I thought.

I got so screwed. Got a ticket for reckless driving (criminal offence) for like $600, 6 days after I bought my Camaro. What for? Was wet and I was in an empty parking lot, turned sharp going 10mph and gave it some gas and let the tail slide out and parked PERFECT in the lines of this spot. Public defender said I could get it dropped, show up at court "Sorry the best I can do is neg 2" WTF.

Oh well, glad YOU at least got out of some of the bullshit they hand out. I bet that is a big relief for you. Does anyone know how long tickets last on your record?

yeah i got lucky. it's three years in washington too. but i took off from a light in everett didn't even spin the tires and the cop had a chip on his shoulder. i don't have a problem with cops usually but he just was not professional.

Maybe if you weren't revving the motor and roaring away from a stop light with the cut outs open to impress people you wouldn't have had this problem to begin with? Just a thought dude. ;)

Yeah, I've seen the way you drive. Can't say I'm surprised that you would get pulled over.

i didn't spin the tires or rev the motor. yes the cut outs were open and yes i did take off but the cop had a bad attitude from the start wouldn't even tell me what i did. i don't have a problem with most cops i've seen first hand what they deal with. it's when they pull a power trip that i have issues. i was in complete control the whole time. if i was burning out or drifting i'd understand.

That isn't what you said in your original post about this.......and I didn't say you spun your tires dude, just that if you were not revving the motor (or as you put it, going WOT in front of a cop shop) or racing away from the stop light...........and notice I said nothing (nor am I defending him) about the cop, his attitude or anything else regarding him. Sucks that the cop was a dick but you could have avoided the entire thing amigo. But his attitude has NOTHING to do with WHY you got pulled over..........Just that if you weren't showboating........well, here, your words do it the best justice. ;)

Everett cops don't seem to like it when you go WOT in front of their station? I didn't even break traction or change lanes or anything just got on it for a few seconds barely broke the speed limit if at all. No cars in front of me and guess what he wrote me for.... Neg 2... $538... (which the RCW states is only a $250 penalty). lol oh well lawyer should have fun with this. Cop was a complete dick about it too... Just wanted to give my friend a quick taste of the car since they'd never ridden in it.
Now, you were saying? ;)

My point was merely that had you not been doing what you were doing, the entire situation would never have happened. And it isn't like you don't do that a lot. Your driving style is typical of a young person with a fast/fun car. I was the same way 15-20 years ago. But I tried to avoid doing it in front of police stations or marked/unmarked units if at all possible. Sadly for you, it also attracts a lot of attention. Like when you left that parking lot in Shoreline I saw you in a month or two ago......I could hear you for a good 15 seconds with my windows up and my car running. :P

Open cutouts = negative attention from people who can make your day turn to poop.

heh yeah i know. i mean i knew i was getting pulled over and could understand why. my reaction is mostly to the infraction he wrote me for and his attitude. i could've understood a modified exhaust ticket but not negligent driving. i was going in a straight line. had i been weaving in and out of traffic at wot with the cut outs open i could understand a negligent or even wreckless ticket.

funny thing about the exhaust is i had them open one time taking a friend to work down in ballard and was right next to a seattle cop the whole time. ironically the next song that came on was that hip hop song ridin dirty. but he didn't even flinch.
