The 5.3L block is the same block as the 4.8L as well.. It has a 3.622" stroke, 3.780(or 3.779 some say) bore. The 4.8" has shorter stroke, but otherwise is about the same. Ive been told you can bore it out to 3.898(ls1 stock bore) and also heard 3.905, ask your machine shop maybe?
