Default Block off plates?

ok, so a friend who is going to help me put my headers on told me to get some block off plates for my headers. Other than less **** to mess with when u do this, whats the advantage of using the plates. Oh, and yes i do know what they are.

The advantage is less clutter in the engine bay , no EGR / AIR .
Find out how strict your states emissions testing is before hand .
Where I live we run dominator carbs on the street and open headers ,no emissions testing.

So you can delete the AIR system and associated hoses/pipes, no EGR on yours if they're 01/02 headers right?

Yes depending on how strict your local testing is you can remove the A.I.R. junk. If you need to make block-off plates then get some thin sheet metal and trace the factory A.I.R. fitting and cut it out with tin snips

Just get a tubing cutter cut the tubes from the air system on the headers crimp and weld shut takes 5 mins....

RTV is silicone sealant. You can get it most anywhere, even Wal-Mart.

well hoss,i ordered them with emmisions provisions cause 1, im new at these kind of mods and 2, i dont want to fail inspections!!!! The friend who is going to help me put them on said in va, i wont have to worry about it! I would rather have them and just block off the air then be able to take off the plates if it causes problems later on down the road for inspections!!!!!!
