Question Newbie in need of help

Hello everyone. I'm going to try to make this short here. Bought 2001 WS6 (3) months ago. Only mod so far is MTI lid. Last week my wife ran through some deep water and the check engine light came on and has stayed on. Any ideas why it came on, and how I can make it go away? Just FYI, the car is running no differently than before the check engine light came on. Any suggestions?

Probalby filled the air pump full of water since it sits low under the bumper. I know this is very common on certain cars (especially BMW). Crank the car cold and see if you hear the pump running, may want to cover the inlet tube with finger the verify. If pump is on that it may not be the pump, if poump doesn.t come on than it is probably full af water and bad. just a thought.

the ses light can only be "cleared" with a small tuner, and you can delete it with something like efi live...the air pump will whine for a bit on a cold start so that should give you a an idea...if your getting headers or anything soon you can just go and remove the air system and delete it in the computer....the only thing it really does is save your cats

Same thing happened to my car. Went through deep water, SES light came on. Had it scanned for codes. SAS Pump is dead and since this seems to be a very common problem with these cars due to the location of this pump, I took out my instrument cluster and placed black electrical tape over the SES light. Temp fix but at least I don't have a orange warning light blinding me at night.

If you can find a tuner that would turn off the code that would be cheaper than getting a new pump. Just tear it out.

Don't know if it will hurt the cats. I thought it was just for passing emissions.

The air pump is for the cats to get running temp faster. Pumping fresh air into the exhaust makes basically a lean condition and it makes the cats light off faster. It is basically passing emissions.
