Any chance you guys can get me a close up pic of the front billet grille. I am currious where the black behind the grille started and stopped. Its flat black, but curious how it looks up close. There doesn't seem to be a start and stop to make the paint look right.

Raress- not to be rude, you have some absolutely beautiful cars. I love the 35ths, but why would you have the Vert be the phase III instead of the coupe? Ever worry bout the problems the power is going to cause with the body cause its not as strong as a coupe?

I mounted my grilles and then taped across the front of the opening even with the front edge of the installed grille. I then removed the grille and added another 1/2 inch width back to the back area of the opening. I then scuffed what was not masked off and then painted it "satin black" to match the tail panels. After it dried, I put the grilles back in after putting the factory grey "Camaro" lettering back in the fascia. When they went to GMMG, they pulled the lettering back out so the "SS" and "SS 427" emblems would not be distorted.
....and that is how I did both of my "Twins" with their black grilles.

Yep, I come and go. I have been trying to find another job somewhere else, since my retirement! I am bored!
Yep, I bought another 2002 35th Anniversary Camaro SS. "Jackie-Rags to Riches" wasn't a wrecked Camaro, but a roller missing the engine, tranny, and interior. I am in the process of putting a trick paint job on it, putting another 550+ hp engine in it, a beefed tranny, a custom designed interior back in her, roll cage, some heavy "meat" mounted on her new silver colored Torque Thrust II wheels, and a lot of the "extras" that came off the "Twins" when they came back from GMMG.! She should be a sweet cruiser!
Yes, he was moving to Kansas, so I will be taking Jenny up there so we can get some pics of the only 2 GMMG 427 Camaro SS/LE/PE Verts together! That is going to be sooo neat!

Thank you for the compliments on my "Girls".
There is another one getting her new "face and body lifts" and her new "make up look" done now!
This may sound bad to some of you, but I do not like driving/shifting the six speed tranny that is in her. (I love driving and racing the four speed trannys though!) It was because of this that I did not ever drive her very much. Now she is a 600+hp 427 with a six speed! She is very radical and I mean very radical! In 5th gear and at 60 mph, she lights the tires up without even trying! She is a 9 second quarter mile Camaro, so yes, she does have torque out the whazoo. S
Being she is a Vert, I had Matt put the welded SFC's on her to "help" the flex. Any more, I drive her up the road and back to the garage just to circulate the fluids in her. I have had her home about a year and I may have put only 100 +/- miles on her! I guess like the LT-4 Camaro, she is an investment and I want to enjoy looking at her in her prime condition. When I do drive her, all the neighbors hear me and come looking and grinning!
That is my reason for not driving her very much and why I put the custom built 427 C5R engine in her, instead of the Coupe that I drive a lot more.

You are welcome for the info. That is what we are here for, is to help one another with problems and ideas.
The black starts around the edge at the back of the grille. You really do not notice it because all you see is the black grille and the black background.

Well, to each their own. You make some good points and completely understand why you wouldnt drive it that much, especially being so powerful. But personally, Ive owned my car for 2 years and 1 week now, its a 6spd, and its my daily driver. Its probaly not been driven at least once a day by me a total of 3 weeks IF that. And I love it! Hopefully itll be sitting for a lil while if I go into the military and the miles will stop racking up, and modding will begin! lol
Anyways, your cars really are beautiful. And they are collectors. And like anyone that doesnt own one, im very jealous! Keep 'em beautiful!

I can't find any on the boards, so I have been on ebay and getting outbid at the last minute. She is going to really look neat when she is done. She is just going to take time to do her right.

Otherwise, have to go to the local graphics shop to try & get some made.
If they are stock stripes, let me know how much you want for them. (side priject for those)

So how did you guys come about these cars? Did you have to be first in line or know someone involved with their production?
01pewter2001z28
01-04-2007, 08:39 AM
Now they only did a limited number of cars and if I recall the last slot filled was in 2005.
The nice thing is once you get the phase 1 conversion package you can take it back to GMMG and get the Phase 2, or the big daddy the Phase 3 427 package :)
I am not 100% sure about the requirements but if you wanted a custom color 35th PE you needed to have a black car.
Other than that normally you would go through one of the participating dealerships that offer GMMG specialty cars (Berger, Tom Henry, Dale Earnhardt, Carl Black, ECT…)
I am sure GMMG will be involved with the 5th gen as they were with the 4th gen’s be prepared to wait as I am sure the waiting list will be rather long, and bring your check book as you are looking at $10-$15k+ on top of the cost of the Camaro, the higher the package (phase 1, II, III) the more $$$$.
I will be in line for a Tom Henry GMMG 5th Gen Vert car once they come out :)
Could someone tell me what G9 is :emb:

Those pics on the first page of the Bluish SS and of the other Camaros that were taken by that overlook were takin at Pere Marquette State Park in Grafton, IL which is right along the River Road. It is an EXCELLENT place to cruise!!! ANd you guys all went thru my hometown on the 05 tour, probably whne those were takin. It was rainin out and you guys all went thru the square in little po dunk carrollton, bout an hour north of illinois. our whole town practically came to to a stand still to let all these go thru, which took bout an hour or hour and a half!!! It was a site to see.

GMMG produced the Berger SS Camaros, the Carl Black Blackbird Firebirds, the Tom Henry SS Camaros, the Dale Earnhardt Intimidator SS Camaros, the Hot Rod Magazine Camaros, the ZL1 Supercar Camaros and most recently the Berger Chevrolet/Dick Harrell Camaro Supercars.

They are finishing up the Dick Harrell Camaros now. Probably won't be doing anything else with Camaros until the new Camaro comes out. They only do modification work for dealers such as Dale Earnhardt Chevrolet, Berger Chevrolet, Tom Henry Chevrolet, Carl Black Pontiac, etc. The only time that they have done anything on an individual basis is the 35 anniversary Camaros (at least that I am aware of). :)

so all of these different "phases" were available right out of the factory. I know some of the 427s were available out of the factory, but were really rare and expensive. I just didnt know there were so many versions. Im not aware of Trans Ams doing anything like this.......?

You could get them right after buying the car or send it to them whenever you liked, as long as they could get you in their line. Check out the GMMG web site, they have more info on all of these cars. Phase III cars were the 427cu in cars with the c5r racing motor in them. I'm pretty sure that it is too late to try and have them do a phase build on your camaro now though.
I am looking to build up my bare ls6 block like the gmmg phase II motor, but would like to get more specs on it because all that I have now are alittle shakey. I know they start as basic ls6 motors, but have different heads/ cam and possibly pistons. I know that the motor's compression ratio was raised to 11.8:1 . Anybody have any more info on the 02 phase II motors? I would love to build this block to 500hp and 475 lbs ft torque. Please help me if you can!
legal - you can probalby find what your're looking for but as far as collectability it won't be a GMMG car without the certification from Matt Murphy.

Oh I know, I am not looking for any kind of collectability regarding this motor. I am building this block to put into my 86 Iroc Z, so don't worry I am not about to impersonate a GMMG car. Though I do like what they have done with their cars. I also plan to put a GMMG exhaust system on it because there is no better sound than the one they have produced. Basically I just would like specs on the motor because they have done exactly what I am looking to do, build a high compression motor that can handle around 500 horsepower and equivalent in torque while still maintaining the driveabilty of these ls1/6 motors. So if anybody has any specs please post up or pm me, I'll be glad to hear from you. Thanks.
