New to drop tops, just bought a 02 WS6 and was needing to know if any damage or ill effects can happen to the top, if it stays down for months at a time? The car will only be driven on mild and or sunny days and stays in the garage the rest of the time. By leaving it down 90% of the time and for maybe months at a time, can it damage the top in any way? Thanks!

Why not just close it? :)

From what I understand, leaving it down all the time may lead to the top being "wrinkled" from being left folded up. Wrinkles that may not go away.

I think the tops I've seen that are in the worst shape are the ones that are left down all the time. I know the intent is "sunny weather" driving, but mold, critters, and general rot may set in if you leave the top down all the time.

<- 12 year old top in good shape, always stored up since I bought the car new ;)

I have left mine down for a few weeks at a time and it has had some wrinkles when I put it back up, but they didn't last long. Just my .o2

I read somwhere, I think it was in the owners manual, to not leave the top down for extended periods of time as it can damage the top. Good enough reason for me to put it up when its sitting for more than a few hours.

Mine spends way more time down than up and I've
noticed some "shiny spots" starting to show up
where it lays on itself, folded.

If I were storing it I'd leave the top up but unlatched
so the top won't be fully stretched and the seals not
fully compressed.
