Need help picking slicks? Hey guys I am starting to look into getting a set of real slicks for my 99 Camaro SS for the track. I have 15X10 Weld Prostars that I will be mounting them on. Right now I have full bolt ons, MS3 Cam, 150shot, Adj T/A, LCA, PHB, QA1 R Series up front, and QA1 rear coilovers. It is a 6spd car with a Strange 12bolt with spool and 4.56 gears. car weight is around 3200 with me in the car. So I need help with what size I need, stiff or soft sidewall, etc. Thanks for the help.

Why, Fedex is good? They lose tires all the time, its so much fun! Just a thing to consider, you have a camaro so your going to have to do some cutting/banging to get a 28'' slick to fit. You could also go with a radial tire. 275/60/15 or 325/50/15 Mickey Thompson Drag Radials.

I would go with a 28x10x15 (D3 compound) goodyear eagle, only problem i can see is you may end up running out of gear with the 4.56's, It'll be close. You may have to step it down to 4.33's.
For comparison i cut low 1.4 60ft's with that tire in a very similar setup, only i had 4.11 gears.

Why not stiff sidewall? I heard its better for a 6spd. I am running the soft sidewall 28x10.5 15 right now but thinking of getting the stiff sidewall next.

I like Hoosier slicks, my slow car liked better than Mickeys. I used the "W"
I also heard stiff side walls were for stick cars, or high power small tire cars.

I wouldn't go with a DR for an M6 car.

So now I am forced to buy new slicks, and I am going with the stiff sidewall ones. M/T say that with my race weight and the fact that it's a 6spd car the stiff sidewall should give me more stability and longer tire life. I have always had good success with M/T so why stop now.
