Default Service Engine light

I just started my car this morning and for some reason my service engine light is on. Any of guys know why this would happen. It was fine over the weekend when I was driving it. It seems to be driving fine too. I remember this happened a couple of months ago and a few days later the light stop coming on. Maybe there's something loose

Yeah, and did you mod the car at all this weekend, did you get gas and not screw the cap back on check that. It's probably something small like that, or something with your EGR or the likes. If it is with your EGR or AIR, ditch that crap.

ya check the gas cap for sure...that'll always make you feel dumb. but cats and/or O2 sensors will set it off if they're bad or have been messed with.

Went to autozone and pulled the code. Its P0430= catalyst efficiency to low. What's that? How do I fix this?

Sounds like your catalytic converter passenger side needs to be replaced.

What caused this problem? Will this hurt her performance at all?

It could also be the passenger side O2 sensor.

I'm pretty sure that there is a federal warranty on the emissions control system, 8 years/80,000 miles. Had to check on that for a friend who owns a Corolla and thats what they told me, don't know if its the same for GM. Anyways, it could be the passenger side cat or the passenger side o2 sensor. It wont affect performance but your car wont pass smog, you may be able to get this problem fixed for free. You should ask a dealer about it. Or use it as an excuse to throw some high flow cats and LT's on.........

check with a chevy dealership, the federal emissions warranty is 8 years or 80,000 miles i got my cat replaced cause i got the same code, but before you go replacing a perfectly good cat . . . . when was the last time you changed your filter or cleaned your whole intake from filter to inside throttle body? do all os these and then start the car up, could be crap goin in and settin off codes downstream
