Default Head/Cam VETTE DOCTORS 449/399 EMISSIONS LEGAL

I found this post on Corvetteforum. I thought a few folks might be interested. This guy road races, so drag racing isn't his thing. But his car makes nice power.

Here is a copy of his post.

was worried with the cam I had that the car would have problems getting by the roller / sniffer test but with cats on it was cake walk. I'll leave them on till I race in the spring. I wanted to dyno it again with the cats but they were to busy. One less problem to worry about. Installed another 3:42 (third one brand new). Runs like a bullet now I need big slicks 315 frt / 335 rear road racing.

Here is a post about the cam specs.

Cam Specs: 230-236 .605 .610 112

This is on a 346. I thought those were some decent numbers on a 346...

I have a real hard time believing that a cam with those spec's can pass a sniffer test at both idle and at road speed. Road speed with CAT's - probably, but at an idle.....they must be able to work magic with LS1_Edit

Its starting to seem like more and more companies are starting to get around 450 out of thier heads and cam packages. But with passing emissions and making that much power is wild

Those are some nice numbers. I bet that car runs damn good. But, they must have paid off the emissions tester or live in a state with no testing because you barely are able to get a 224/114 to pass hear in California, so I would shy away from calling it emissions legal.

When I had just heads/cam with the T1 (221/221) I barely passed the Houston area sniffer test at idle speed. At the higher rpm test it passed easily, but at idle it was borderline. That was also with a brand new set of cats that I showed up to the test with very heated.

I also know some guys that have failed with 224/224 cams and cats. And, when we had the sniff tests here in Houston (no longer required for OBD cars like ours) they weren't as strict as some of the other states.
