Stop listening to whoever keeps telling you that, and don't let them advise you on any modification you plan in the future.

If its a V8 (Z28, SS) it has an LS1. Period. The 01 and 02's came with an LS6 manifold, not an LS6 motor. If you need to see more proof, just look at the RPO codes on your door, you will see one there that makes it pretty self explanatory....."LS1".

And you posted this in the wrong forum.

Some 02 ls1 cars had an ls6 block, which did not affect power at all. So yes, you have a regular ls1.

Your '02 LS1 came with the LS6 intake, the clutch used for the LS6 (if you have an M6), and possibly an LS6 block. But you do not have a 385 ('01) or 405 ('02+) horse LS6 in it, unless somebody did a swap

you could have an LS6 block. you definitely have an LS6 intake manifold. if you have an M6, you definitely have an LS6 clutch...but you have an LS1 cam and LS1 heads (and most likely an LS1 block). it's not an LS6 at all. no f-bodies came with LS6's, though there are rumors some people got fluke LS6 heads, though that claim is unsubstantiated.

in short, it's an LS1. the only way it's an LS6 is if someone did an engine swap.
