Anyone here been in the NPOC Program? Or know any info on it? Well more than I got from my recruiter? What do you need to score on the ASVAB? Is there a second test to qualify? Thanks in advance!

I am a Navy recruiter right now. there is not really a certain score that you have to get on the asvab to qualify for that job. as long as you meet line scores to qualify you are good. sometimes if you are close they will give you a second test that is just for the nuke field. I have had guys that have scored 60s and still qual for the nuke program and then i have had guys in the 90s not qual so really it all goes off your line scores. have you even taken the asvab yet. and if you have your recruiter should be able to tell you if you qualify or not or if you are eligable to take the nuke test to see if you can qual. if you have any more questions fell free to hit me up.

Thats why i asked what you needed, my recuiter thinks that i may have scored high enough, but he didn't know for sure... He said he would find out for me. I just wanted to know if anyone on here knew? I have an A.S. in M.E. with a 3.8 GPA. And as I said I scored high on the ASVAB I just recently took. So i want to know how high i needed...
Thanks

What are line scores? The individual test scores? I scored a 94 on the ASVAB, I took it the other week. My recruiter mentioned before that if i didn't score high enough on the ASVAB that there was a second test.

The ASVAB covers 4 areas: Mechanical, General, Administrative and Electrical
There is no "Overall" score. A score is given in each field. Based on your strengths will determine what career field you'll be placed in. Obviously their not going to make you an electrician if you score a 56 when you scored a 90 in mechanical. Good Luck

I got a GT and MM of 139. They threw the book at me and said 'pick one'
Of course that's army though, is the navy asvab different?

OK so the 94 was the unofficial percent on the general portion of the test... I guess i have to wait to find out the rest... How long does it take them to score the rest of the test? How will i find out my scores?

If you have an overall score you'll have your line scores. It will be part of the graded info and your ASVAB is a general percentage of the combined categories.

I was a reactor operator on a carrier and also worked on some subs, so let me know if you have any questions about the nuclear navy.

Thanks! Right now my biggest worry is getting in shape for the physical requirement. I'm about 30lbs overweight :( Or so my recruiter said...

That part is a joke - I was in better shape when I went to boot camp then when I left. The biggest challenge early was learning to deal with not getting any sleep. Good luck man and let me know anytime if you have any questions.

ASVAB is the same for all branches. I scored a 121 in GT I do believe, and I qual'd for the nuke program. Ended up going Army though.
