Default do performance modules, like the ones on ebay actually improve performance?

ive saw them advertised and i was wondering if they add any real power, or if they do anything at all

Don't waste your money. Get a mailorder tune from Madwolf or PCM4Less.

Whether or not those modules add any power is debatable, they probably do nothing, but even if they do it is most certainly not done in the proper way and is really just an all around bad idea.
