Default 59cc ETP's W/ g5x3/114 will it clear??

Hey guys, I'm about to install some ETP's milled to 59cc along with my G5X3/114 with Cometic .040 gaskets, and wanted to know if I'll have any PTV issues?

I'm sorry for being ignorant but this PTV stuff confuses the hell out of me!!

Thanks for the help everyone!

only one way to find out..clay test it. also make sure you use the special push rod lengths.

Thank you.

I have the correct pushrods 2 differing sizes... and the .040 Cometics...

I was planning on claying it seeing as I do not have a micrometer.

Any other insight is greatly appreciated!

do not use pladoh. Use real modeling clay you can pick it up anywhere thats sells craft stuff. Grab a cheap dial caliper set cut a section of the clay out of the relife it puts in the clay. Measure the depth and there is your piston to valve.

LG told me they run 59cc AFR's with the G5X3 all the time without fly cutting. From what I have heard the ET offer a bit more P to V clearance. I am still going to cut my pistons because it is my money if I ruin my engine. Use the clay and make sure.

Best wishes........that is going to be a killer combo brother!

That is the second or third time i see you post this.
NO WAY IN THIS WORLD, that the X3 will fit without flycutting on 59cc AFR

It fits on 66cc AFR out of box with stock gaskets AND only on a 114 LSA

Are we speaking of AFR heads or ETP heads ????

Huge differences between both brands, valve angle related, and PTVC will be a lot different between those two excellent brands.

It seems that the config of wavrdr will have no problems with a safe margin on the PTVC side.

Wow! What kind of bottom end work do you have done that you want an X3 on a 114?

Why do you say that? a 114 only moves the powerband up a couple hundred rpms. Lots of people spin the stock bottom end to 6800ish.

I've had the 114 in since I went cam only...About 2 years now.

The shortblock is stock. The car makes peak power in the mid-upper 6k range and it pulls like crazy. Iwoldn't mind having that extra idle rumble and maybe alittle more peak ponies, but hey I'm working with what I've got.....

When I get my clay measurements I'll report back..

Take care guys

NO WAY IN HELL will a X3 fit with AFR's and 59cc's w/o flycuting or changing piston's or running 12 head gaskets stacked.
Now the ETP's.
I bet it's close but I would have to guess it going to fit.
They give about 50 thous more P/V clearence over a stock head.
So take 50 minus about 25 for the milling and 15 for the smaller gasket and you have a combo that has potential to work.
good luck.
If only it were that easy to figure out.

Apparently the ETP 215 at 62cc has .160 more valve drop than a 243 LS6 head....

This info is per Craig at ETP...

Take off .010-.020 for the milling and another .014 for the gaskets(Cometic vs GM)and I "should" still have +.125 more valve drop over a stock head???

I'm still gonna check it to make sure but this info could prove useful to those down the line....

Here is a dumb question: Which PR is for the intake? The longer or the shorter?

Which is about where you need to shift it on a 112LSA if you're shifting to keep the maximum average HP under the curve. So 7000-7200 is actually optimal for a 114 on that cam.

AFRs clear with more PTV than a stock head setup with that same 59cc head and .040 gasket

As for ETPs, if they are similar to the 225s, it will clear as well. My Personal Camaro just got an ETP/G5x3v2 treatment and PTV was 15 thou more than stock heads with the thin gasket

the ETP 11* valve angle change opens up some PTV by defualt beucase the edge of the valve is further from the piston.

It actually moves the cut up the piston, so anyone that has the standard LSx valve reliefs that switchs to ETPs needs to re-flycut, or atleast check PTV again with the new heads.
