Default How do I get taller install height?

I'm sure you have read about my 918 springs breaking. I hear that the 918 spring needs to be set up at 1.80 so I checked mine the best i could and it seems to be around 1.631. How do i change it so it will be around the 1.80? Is there differant shims i can get?

yes you can get shims in .015, .030 and .060. to increase the pressure. How did you measure the installed height? Did you measure installed height with the spring seat locator installed and the retainer you are going to use?

Different retainers, machine the seat surface, longer valves, thinner seats. Are these stock heads and valves? If so 918s should be a direct fit.

Recheck our numbers. Something definitely doesn't sound right. There are only 3 ways to increase the installed height. 1. Longer valves 2. Cut the valve seats back into the head (a bunch) 3. deepen the spring pockets.

None of which you should have to do to fit 918 springs.

Check and measure again.

I think I will. It doesn't make any sense with these numbers

Don't think its the installed height that was your problem, but it is worthy of checking. If you installed un-shimmed, then you need different retainers or longer valves, both of which I think are not necessary in your case. I think you have other issues.
