Default Has anyone done a LS1 conversion into a Supra?

A freind is thinking about doing a swap into a 95 Supra.

Has anyone done this yet?

And how tough is it?

Any picture would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Roman

he said a 95. there is a thread somewhere on here w/ someone talking about building an LS1 Supra Sleeper. i dont think anything relevant came out of the thread jus a lot of flaming.

definitely would be a cool conversion, but i dont see the benefit of it over the other import swaps. there should be plenty of room for both the engine and trans. that i6 and 6sp r pretty massive in the Supra.

if ur buddy is jus really into the Supras and into the shock factor of something unique then he should give the swap a shot. if he is jus looking for a nice import swap with major performance goals, the FD (93+ RX7) would be a better choice in my opinion. hope u find the info ur looking for.

go ahead and do it. the only thing id do is have forged internals so ..things... can be added to match or surpass those pesky roll racers. the one issue might be the side to side clearance.

I could see the conversion being done in an MKIII supra. But it honestly doesn't make too much sense for a 2JZ equiped supra. The stock blocks are known to hold 800 or more and most supra owners buy the supra for that fact, that they don't have to change TOO much to make some damn good power.

Supra Sleeper.... LOL!

I don't see the point if you've already got a 2jz motor to play with but it would def be unique!

Ditto, unless you have a 2jz-ge.
Then it would be a sweet car to drop an LS1 into IMO.

The car is without drivetrain right now.

So we're tossing around ideas. I figured that buying an entire LS1 drivetrain for 3K is a lot cheaper then the Supra equivalent, and it would be cool.

go for it. I have a mkIII turbo supra im fixing up. alot of people have tried to get me to put my LS2 in that. ive thought about it but would rather stick it in a fox

an LS1 mkIV would offend legions of supra fanatics.

people have swapped the 1UZ into the mk4 before, so i don't see why the LSX wouldn't fit.

If you do it, take pics! I want to do the swap as well on a MKIV. Perfect grand tourer.

Haha.. that would be SO funny - some people would die, with all the nutswinging that's done on the 2JZ.
