Default Lark Swap

Just seeing if anyone has done a studebaker swap. I'm doing a '62 lark 2-door LS1 swap.

I'll maybe post up some pictures sometime.

I had a 63 Lark 2 dr, 6 cyl, 3 spd manual while I was in college. Ugly as sin....but one of the best cars I ever had. We beat the snot out of that car and it just kept coming back for more. Good luck with your swap - lots of room under the hood to work with.

Yeah, they're definitely different looking... this car is clean as a whip and all original. Black with a tan-ish interior. I'm gonig to slam it and leave everything else alone ... except for the drivetrane of course.

Mine was also straight six three on the tree. There is some room - I wondered when I was going to carb it. But since I'm going to take a stab at EFI there's no problem. But the steering box is completely in the way, so in order to save myself doing a custom header for now I'm just going with a shorty and hoping it will fit. Who knows, if it doesn't maybe that will be the beginning of a twin turbo setup ....

it'll be a great swap and a cool sleeper too if you can keep the look. The only bad spot on those old studes was the suspension. I'd be looking for a suspension upgrade, a possible subframe swap(may graft in a 4th gen subframe??) Toss a good rearend under it and have a great time teasing the cobra crowd..... I bet it will weigh NUTTIN'!

What do you know about the suspension?

I am planning on drag shocks and springs - the front is pretty much like a GM and the back has a Dana 44. Which will definitely need some beefing up. But parts are pretty much available so hopefully it won't be too bad.
