I got borred so I called a GM dealer to see if the guy could help me out with a question. I know that the 2004 C5 Z06 has a lighter front window to save weight compared to a base C5 vette, so I asked to have the price of both........well the base C5 front window (heavier) cost $1200ish and the ZO6(lighter) front window cost $1000ish. Just though I share!

I had to replace mine and it cost me $1300. When I replaced mine the cost was more for the Z06 windshield. This was the information from the parts department at the local Chevy dealership.

Yes, the Zo6 windshield is cheaper because its thiner than the base C5.

I've checked on this a few times in my area. Every time, the Z06 windshield was much more expensive. We're getting some inconsistent info here.

The inconsistent info does not surprise me. I get quoted different pricing from dealerships (parts departments) that are within 10 miles of eathother. Add this to the fact that you can get wholesale prices on parts that are regularly 50% of the dealership quote and you'll have some raised eyebrows.
I would try Dal Slaughbaugh and see what he had to say about it. His prices are rock bottom on any GM part. I would think that there would be less chance of getting a screwy quote from a GM wholesaler like Dal vs. a body shop/dealership.
But yeah, over a G for the windshield? I got a small ding in my windshield last week (no cracks or anything, just a little "chip/ding" about the size of the tip of a ballpoint pen. I think I'll have it repaired this weekend! :eek2:
