Default coil over rear conversion?

has anyone done it? with a torque arm car is there any benefit to going to a coil over kit over a good adjustable rear shock with a 12" 150# spring and say the wolfe perches? i was looking on jegs.com and they sell a coil over conversion for $499 with the alumawhatever single adj. shock and 150# spring with all the parts nessecary. just wondering if there would be any advantage to that?

Skipper the main advantage would be moving the shock to the rear of the housing. Putting the spring on the shock doesnt create that much benefit.

so madman, would it be worth doing a conversion? it woudl be nice to gain that extra room around the wheel-well too.

You dont gain any extra room moving the shock. The LCA is the limiting factor.

so Brian, would it be worth the swap for a strip only car? cost for the coil over conversion kit is $499, cost of QA1s, springs, and spring perches is probably comperable. what do you think?

i've had good luck with QA1 stuff in the past. i'm not going for anything runnings low 8s or 7s or anything. the AFCOs are just out of my price confort zone.

I have the QA1 rear coilover kit w/ 150# springs. I havent really had a chance to play with the settings too much, I've had trans problems all season. FWIW, I've cut a best of a 1.47 60' with many 1.48-1.49's to back it up on MT 16" drag radials
