Default 24 vs. 26 inch skinny front tires

For the front tires, what are the advantages/disadvantages to each size?

Diameter of the tire affects the rollout distance. 24" being less than a 26.

the exact reason I mentioned before.
Rollout determines how soon the timing system is activated. Short tire, maybe easier to redlite?? Could be, unless the car is a 10 sec car, and the driver is a 12 sec driver...

Moroso 27's.. How about that size?
Could be a really tall tire will hit the fender lip, when turned to full lock??

The taller tire will always ET better because of the added roll-out (you get a head start). Running a 11.01 and want a 10.99? Run a taller front tire. Want to cut better lights? Run a shorter front tire.

Good Luck,

Daren

alright it makes sense now. I was just debating wheather to run the smaller tire so I could slide the a2w intercooler back a little more and not have clearance issues with turning the tires. I had mocked the car up with the customer's stock rims on the front. When i went to the 26" skinnys they are almost rubbing the intercooler when the wheel is turned. I'm gussing its b/c of the offset on the drag rims.

I had mine at 40 and they seem to be sitting partically on the sidewalls and not only on the tread part I saw a post on here where someone was running 65 psi. Can anyone else post up what psi they are running?

I run 35 psi in 26's. Another problem with a shorter tire is it sets the cross member/k member closer to the ground meaning you have a greater chance of bashing your headers or whatever is hanging low on the car. 26's are just generally the best fit for most cars.

Some super gas cars you'll see out there will be setting low up front on 24's so they can hit a .400 tree.

A 24-inch tire will lower the center-of-mass and reduce weight transfer at launch. If you still have ABS, fronts need to be same diameter as rears.

I run 40 in my fronts, I've used Goodyear, Mickey's & Hoosier, no problems with any.
Never heard anyone over 45. 65 sounds a little high.

I also run a taller tire on my slow car to slow down my rection. If I leave on bottom bulb I would red light.

On the fast car I can only use the tire it was made for, if I go smaller it drags, if I go bigger it hits the headers. So I have no choice, but again, it has a box, so no biggie.

I also heard Pro Tree guys like a smaller tire, they adjust ride height to stay legal.

The remedy for overloading is a wider tire, not higher pressure.
